We pay our stylist more than the traditional salons/barber shops. 80-85% of what you give goes directly to them.
During these troubling times, we have found a way to allow people to get safer haircuts, by doing them in indoor ventilated spaces and having them be 1 on 1 with stylists. Our current safety measures include having our stylists COVID tested regularly, and conducting on-site temperature checks at the time of the appointment. We also send out a pre-COVID screen form that must be filled by the clients prior to appointment. Our stylists are also Barbicide certified so they will take the right cleaning measures to keep you safe between appointments. We provide a new cape and towel to each client serviced in the day, but we welcome you to use your own supplies as well. Lastly our stylist carries a faces shield with them and will wear it upon request during the appointment. We have made the face shield optional since it is difficult to see while they are doing the cut, but will be worn if it makes you feel more comfortable.
We understand the main concern is safety, and HouseCuts is ultimately working to create a safer and more convenient type of haircut. We are having out team members COVID tested regularly by pairing with #projectbeacon.
Our goal is to have each team member tested bi-weekly, and we have made the results public on our website. We are testing more regularly so that we can build more trust with our clients to the point where we can do cuts safely indoors.
Ultimately HouseCuts is focused on delivering a more convenient type of haircut, and what's more convenient than having someone come directly to your home? So when it comes to winter, we know the hassle it takes to drive to a salon, wait, and then drive back. Also going into a salon is still unsafe since you don't know who is coming in out from there, also there tends to be more than one person within the salon. We are allowing people to get haircuts in open ventilated spaces (garage, enclosed porch, open ventilated spaces in home) where clients can control the environment, and the cuts are 1 on 1 so no extra people are involved!
At the same time we will be increasing our level of safety by having out stylist COVID tested bi-weekly, conducting daily temperature checks, and having the supplies cleaned right in front of you. What we expect from the clients is to complete our COVID screening form prior to the appointment. We know winter is going to be gloomy, but that shouldn't stop you from looking and feeling fresh.
Please have hair wet (washed and shampooed and free of tangles) prior to the stylists arrival as it makes the cut go a lot smoother. Thank you!
Our stylist is equipped with all the supplies that will be needed for the cut including a portable heater. All we ask is that you provide a chair and an outlet within a 15 ft range if you are using clippers. See our recommended chair sizes below.
We have completed nearly 1,300+ haircuts. Of those 1,300+, 102 of them have been during the rain. This appointment is ideal for those who have a garage, seasonal porch, or some shaded covering outside their home. If none of these options work we are able to reschedule the appointment.
To change or cancel an appointment please contact us 24 hours before your appointment.
We take all of our payments at the end of the appointment. We accept a variety of payment methods ranging from cash, venmo, and even credit/debit cards. We make all our appointments based on trust, so our stylist will come to you and give you the cut before you have to pay. All we ask is if you want to change or cancel an appointment, please contact us 24 hours before the appointment.
Our stylist carries a tarp with them which collects all the hair that falls during the cut, and the stylist uses their hand held vacuum to pick up the rest. Mess free!
Haircut prices are the same for all categories, but the difference is the traveling fee. When getting a haircut ALONE, we charge a $15 traveling fee, get in a GROUP and we'll wave that fee.
We are charging a traveling fee as we want to incentivize people to get haircuts in groups. The objective is for our stylist to serve more and travel less. This is why we offer a discount in groups compared to individuals.
